Based in the Sherwood Park location, under the direction of the IT Manager, the Bilingual IT Analyst is responsible for providing remote and desk side support to First Canadian Insurance Corporation as well as 7 other Wheaton Group companies. This position supports the day-to-day operation and on-going enhancement of the data and voice network communications infrastructure. In addition to providing Tier 2 support, the position leads the resolution of issues with external service providers. The position works as part of a team and collaborates with internal and external contacts to achieve objectives. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Helpdesk duties including printer maintenance, user maintenance, and desk-side support. This includes maintaining a working knowledge of the remote management tools in place to provide support to off-site individuals and companies.
  • Installing client and server software for upgrading and maintenance of telecommunication systems as well as administration of those systems.
  • Maintaining computer operations, software applications, operating systems, and workstations to ensure efficiency of those systems.
  • Utilize tools such as Active Directory, Exchange, Rightfax, Mitel, Oaisys, Cisco, AS400 and various other tools to effectively govern and facilitate a secure working environment.
  • Have an understanding of NTFS and its effect on file and folder security.
  • Provide recommendations for future systems purchase, upgrade, and usage.
  • Represent the company to third party vendors to ensure proper support is given.
  • Maintenance of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintenance of workstation images and management of workstation inventory for efficient hardware replacement should the need arise.
  • Knowledge of in place backup systems in order to provide data restoration services.
  • Creation and maintenance of procedural documentation for new and old technical initiatives.
  • Installation and administration of all third party vendor software such as door security software and surveillance software.
  • Be able to maintain the cabling of the network infrastructure including line termination, line tracing via audible toner, and an understanding of the tools required to detect faulty cables.
  • Deployment of network infrastructure (switches, routers, access points) as guided by the Network Administrator or IT Manager.
  • Escalation of problems as appropriate to the Network Administrator and IT Manager.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • IT Degree or Diploma and 3 years of related experience, or IT Certification and 5 years of related experience.
  • Preferred skills are MCSE, COMPTIA A+, Windows 7 and 10, Mac OS A+.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License and own vehicle is required.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
  • Fluent in both English and French with proven skills in verbal and written communication, are an asset.
