Bilingual Field Services Specialist

Job Description

OVERVIEW






Reporting to the Operations Manager, New Brunswick, the Field Services Specialist is responsible to support activities related to recycling operations, including collection and processing, regulated under New Brunswick Provincial Extended Producer Responsibility legislation. The Field Services Specialist' primary focus will be to ensure the operational policies and practices established by Circular Materials (CM) are clearly communicated, understood, and followed in the field, resulting in greater overall efficiency and effectiveness, and leading to increased collection and diversion of recyclable materials.





RESPONSIBILITIES






a) Provide in-field training for collection service providers, including working with municipalities and private haulers, on established CM policies and practices.




b) Gather and analyze in-field best practices and make recommendations on how these best practices can be incorporated into the curbside and depot recycling programs.



c) Develop a program to monitor and track operations across New Brunswick including site visit schedules and inspections, data tracking, contamination tracking and mitigation plans, site usage and volumes for rationalization purposes and feedback for Communications and Marketing.



d) Prepare accurate, timely and data driven reports as required.



e) Attend and/or support site and material audits to support the Material Quality team.



f) Facilitate efficient changes to operations that support Circular Materials strategic and operational plans by providing support to service providers.



g) Represent Circular Materials during discussions with various stakeholder groups, including Communities and Contractors, and other industry related associations as needed.



h) Working with service providers, oversee, lead and/or participate in (as appropriate) activities such as bale audits and waste composition studies that aim to improve the performance of Circular Materials waste diversion activities in the areas of material collection, transportation, processing, and materials marketing.



i) Monitor CM's relationships with contracted service providers to identify risks and anticipate and resolve issues.


j) Collaborate with the National Operations team on areas of continuous improvement.



k) Other duties as may be required from time-to-time, including attendance at events, and third-party meetings as necessary.



l) Supervise and support special projects as required.




QUALIFICATIONS





Education






a) Post-secondary education related to environmental studies, business/program administration, engineering tech or related discipline, and/or related experience.



Experience






a) 2- 5 years' experience in operations of recycling programs, waste management, or related roles.




b) Must be fully bilingual in both English and French.


c) Continuing education and professional development in communications, data management or project management is an asset.




d) Direct experience or knowledge of PPP recycling programs, stewardship programs, or related field is beneficial.

c) Ability to conduct detailed analysis and provide summaries and recommendations.




d) Knowledge of waste management, materials management, commodity markets, and logistics or related operational business activities.




e) Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, SharePoint and Teams




f) Excellent attention to detail, analytical, problem solving, planning, and execution skills.




g) Excellent verbal and written communications skills which can build relationships with communities, internal CM teams and at all levels in the CM organizational structure.





h) Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively create and implement project plans.



WORKING CONDITIONS





Working Hours




This is a full-time position working hours 40 hours per work week and not less than 37.5 hours per work week. Typical work hours occur Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm within home time zone, with schedule flexibility required to provide for working across time zones and extended working hours to meet deadlines. This role will require coordinating and meeting with internal and external stakeholders in multiple Canadian time zones. Extra or flexible hours may be required on occasion.

Remote and Field Work is required.

Remote working environment with the ability to travel as needed.

Travel




Requires travel within New Brunswick to meet with collection, transportation and processing partners and conduct site inspections.

A valid driver's license is required.
