About the opportunity:



The Bilingual Credit and Collections Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the assigned Accounts Receivable team to maintain the integrity of the DSO and departmental objectives, and to maintain controls as it relates to Credit approvals, customer reviews and innovation. The position supports the long-term strategic planning for the department while providing guidance, coaching and direction to all members of the team.

The attributes we are looking for:



Verify and approve credit application recommendations for new customers and monitor credit worthiness of existing accounts through the analysis of financial records and statements. Communicate with the customer in accordance with the Credit Policy. Conduct bi-weekly regular reviews of the Accounts Receivable Aging and escalate as appropriate. Establish and maintain an active relationship with both internal and external customers (e.g., Sales, Finance personnel, Supply Chain, customers) to improve the quality of performance and to continuously look for opportunities to improve customer service levels. Provide daily guidance, support and resources required for the designated team to be successful. Participate in hiring activities, coaching discussions, performance management activities and identifying training and development needs of the team. Ensure Credit staff are trained on all policies, procedures, and internal controls for the department as well as relevant laws and regulations. Hold team accountable to standards. Monitor sales orders for credit worthiness on a timely basis. Review, verify and approve recommendations provided for annual reviews of credit files. Communicate with internal and external auditors on controls testing and respond to requests by organizing and delivering documentation required. Provide external leadership with customers and competitors in developing external relations by attending credit meetings on a regular basis, following through with the escalation cycle as required. Maintain strict control & accountability of the staff's targeted performance - overdue collections, claims and performance metrics by ensuring that objectives are in line with the target. Produce regular and ad-hoc financial reports to management relating to Accounts Receivable, split by legal entity. Identify and report any significant issues to the National Credit Manager. Ensure that customer issues concerning deductions and disputes are resolved by responding to escalated issues, and by collaborating with the sales organization to reduce incoming deductions. Prepare the weekly cash collections forecasts including prior week forecast variance. Validate customer banking information and respond to update requests. Participate in process improvement initiatives by providing recommendations/implementing approved changes, and monitoring/reporting on key performance indicators.

What you will bring:



College diploma in Accounting/Finance is required. Certified Credit Professional Designation or working towards obtaining the designation is an asset. At least 5 years of credit and collections experience is required. At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a similar environment is required. Fluently bilingual in French and English Comprehensive Credit knowledge Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization Strong problem solving and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office products and the Internet, as well as competent using SAP Ability to motivate, develop, challenge and inspire others to deliver their personal best Strong negotiating skills
