We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following opportunity in our Montreal office:



BILINGUAL CLAIMS COUNSEL / EXAMINER, SPECIALTY INSURANCE - MONTREAL



The Bilingual Claims Counsel/Examiner, reporting directly to the Vice President, Claims Specialty Insurance, will be responsible for management of claims within the Specialty Insurance and Casualty departments.

Responsibilities include:

Coverage evaluation. Drafting coverage letters and other documents (in both French and English). Setting claim reserves. Communicating with insureds, counsel, brokers, and claimants (in both French and English). Managing litigation and negotiating settlements. Authorizing payments as required. Acting as a resource for various business units.

Qualifications

LL.B. or LL.L. from a recognized university (preferred but not required). 2-3+ years of experience in private practice specializing in insurance law and/or experience in claims handling. Fluently bilingual in French and English. Property & Casualty experience is an asset. Membership in good standing with the Barreau du Quebec- if applicable
