Summit Community Services' Better at Home program assists seniors in maintaining independence and enables them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The Better at Home program provides non-medical home supports including transportation to medical appointments (local and long-distance), grocery shopping and delivery, friendly visits, light housekeeping and handyperson services to help maintain a safe and independent home environment.
Job Summary:
As a Light Housekeeper, you will be assisting seniors with housekeeping tasks related to keeping them living independently in their own home. Tasks limited to light housekeeping such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, surface cleaning of floors, kitchens and bathrooms, cleaning and organizing the fridge, emptying the garbage/recycle/compost and making the bed. This position will provide services to clients living in the Wasa area.
Reports to: Better at Home Coordinator
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Have some level of housekeeping knowledge or the ability to take direction from the senior
Assist seniors only with aspects of housework that they are not able to do for themselves
Abide by the Oath of Confidentiality Agreement related to senior information
Take directions from the Program Coordinator or designate
Respect and comply with Summit Community Services policies, procedures, codes of conduct and ethics
Job Skills and Abilities:
Be responsible for their own transportation to and from the client's home for deliver services
Demonstrate patience, understanding and empathy for vulnerable populations
Pass a criminal record check
Be in suitable physical condition to perform the housekeeping duties that you agree to
Be sensitive towards seniors and people from diverse cultures
Have good communication skills
Provide three (non-family) references
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: Casual on as needed basis
