In Your Role You Will
Interact with and advise employees and consultants on a range of individual benefits, such as wellness leave, vacations, RSPs, medical and dental benefits and other associated
benefits, as available.
Review and process individual benefits applications and related documentation; contact applicants as necessary to clarify information provided on forms.
Coordinate processes and enter benefit enrollments with employee benefit data into relevant databases.
Help audit and support reconciliation of benefit payables.
Utilize HRIS system to help administer additions, changes and adjustments in HR, payroll and benefit applications.
Data entry, as well as create, edit, revise letters, excel tables, reports and other related materials.
Perform a wide range of HR operational support activities as assigned by the Human Resources management personnel.
Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
The Position
As a member of the Human Resources team you will use your skills and experience in benefits administration and payroll processes to tackle a variety of tasks and projects, and where no two days look the same.
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for an overall benefits administration, benefits onboarding and offboarding, responding to employee benefits-related questions. This position is responsible for, benefits data integrity and documentation. The role ensures compliance with provincial and federal laws, contractual agreements and company policy, and provides interpretive information and guidance to employees on compliance issues. Benefits Specialist oversees multiple pension plans across 3 provinces, including Municipal Pension Plan and RRSP matching.
Additionally, this position might be providing Payroll coverage when needed.
Schedule:
One (1) permanent full-time position with a weekly schedule of 40 hours. Taproot may consider converting this position to part-time with a weekly schedule of 35 hours which will be discussed during an interview.
Monday through Friday, 08:30-16:30
The position is currently scheduled to be based out of the Support Staff office in Maple Ridge, BC and is open for a hybrid remote model which will be discussed during an interview.
Mandatory Pre-Employment Screenings and Checks
Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter. These checks vary depending on province and sector and will be communicated by the Program Hiring Team.
As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
Certificate or Diploma in a related field (i.e. business administration, human resources)
2+ years experience in HR, benefit or payroll administration.
HRIS Payroll experience
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills (both written and oral), adept with spreadsheets/creating reports (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Knowledge and understanding of group benefits and payroll principles, practices, procedures and documentation; open enrollment systems and procedures; provincial and federal laws pertaining to employee benefits and personal income tax issues.
