BrightStar Respite is seeking a passionate and dedicated Behavioural Therapist to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with autism and their families while working in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
Schedule:
Part-time, up to 20 hours per week
Service Locations:
Client homes and BrightStar Respite main office (St. Albert)
Client Age Range:
3-17 years old
About the Role
As a Behavioural Therapist with BrightStar Respite, you will provide individualized behavioural intervention services to children with autism spectrum disorder. You'll work closely with families to develop appropriate behaviours, reduce challenging behaviours, and enhance quality of life for our clients through evidence-based Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct behavioural assessments and functional behaviour analyses
Develop and implement individualized behaviour intervention plans
Provide direct behavioural therapy services in home and clinic settings
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including family doctors, nurses, educational assistants, teachers, speech-language pathologists, and respite support aides
Maintain accurate documentation using current software systems
Participate in team meetings and case conferences
Provide family training and support on behavioural strategies
Monitor progress and adjust intervention plans as needed
Collect and analyze behavioural data

Probationary Period:
90 days
Benefits (after successful completion of probation):

Required Qualifications
Education & Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, or related field
ABA certification preferred (BCBA, BCaBA, or RBT)
Training in Applied Behaviour Analysis principles and techniques
Background Checks:
Clear criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening (Edmonton Police Services)
Clear Child Intervention Check (Child and Family Services)
Valid CPR and First Aid certification
Skills & Experience:
Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder and behavioural challenges
Knowledge of evidence-based behavioural intervention strategies
Proficiency with documentation software and data collection systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
