What We Will Ask of You:
As a key member of our Autism Services OAP Urgent Response Services (URS) teams, our Behaviour Technician (BT) plays an important role. On most days you'll be providing therapeutic respite services to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder up to 18 years of age across Canopy's catchment. The BT provides direct applied behavior analysis (ABA-based) programming and assists the Clinical Supervisor (CS) and Behaviour Consultant (BC) in providing parent/caregiver and mediator training to assist in the independent implementation of ABA?based strategies.
Short-term services are provided with the goal to prevent crisis by implementing supports within the guiding framework of URS; Respond, Stabilize, Prepare and Repair. Supports can include; short-term consultation, time-limited respite services, oversight of parent/caregiver training, short-term ABA based treatment planning and additional service navigation expertise.
Primary Responsibilities:
Providing short-term behaviour intervention strategies through evidence-based ABA practices, working one on one with the child/youth with ASD in home-based locations and in the presence of caregivers
Implement URS service plans and monitor learner's progress
Model components of the URS service plan for the child/youth's caregivers for up to 12 hours per week per family
Support the development of programming and program materials in collaboration with URS team
Perform administrative tasks as required
Qualifications:
College or Bachelor Degree in Social Science or equivalent or related experience
Successful completion of Registered Behaviour Technician course work (RBT) is considered an asset
Annual completion of In-Chair evaluation achieving 90% or higher
1 year of experience working with the ASD population
Experience supporting mental health needs is considered an asset
Valid G-Class driver's license for the Province of Ontario, access to reliable transportation and have valid proof of automobile insurance with driving for business purposes and a minimum liability of two million dollars
