BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTIONIST - PENTICTON
WHO IS A BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTIONIST?
GreenTree Community Inclusion Programs Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time and part-time Behaviour Interventionists to join our team in Penticton. This role will primarily focus on providing direct, individualized behavioural intervention services to a 13-year-old individual with complex diversabilities and emotional dysregulations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the individual, her primary care team, our interdisciplinary team, and external professionals to implement evidence-based strategies that promote positive behaviour, skill development, and overall well-being. This position reports to the Program Manager and the BCBA.
WHAT DOES A BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTIONIST DO?Direct Intervention: Provide one-on-one behaviour intervention services to a 13-year-old individual, implementing individualized behaviour support plans (BSPs) and positive behaviour interventions as developed by a qualified professional (e.g., Board Certified Behaviour Analyst - BCBA).
Skill Development: Facilitate the development of adaptive living skills, communication skills, social skills, and self-regulation strategies tailored to the individual's needs and goals.
Data Collection & Documentation: Accurately collect and record data on target behaviours, skill acquisition, and intervention effectiveness. Maintain thorough and timely digital documentation of all sessions, progress notes, and relevant observations.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Program Manager/Supervisor and other members of the interdisciplinary team (e.g., BCBA, SLPs, Psychiatrist, Nurses) to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to intervention.
Reporting: Provide regular verbal and written updates on the individual's progress and any challenges encountered to the Program Manager/Supervisor.
Environmental Support: Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment conducive to learning and positive behaviour.
Professional Development: Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision as required. Stay current with best practices in behaviour intervention and disabilities.
Adherence to Policies: Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, including confidentiality and child protection protocols.
WORKING HOURS:Monday to Friday, specific hours to be determined (e.g., 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Saturday and Sunday, specific hours to be determined (e.g., 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM)
HOURLY RATES:$28.49 training wage (approximately 80 hours);
$30.03 to $32.85 to start after training.
BENEFITS & RRSP MATCHING:All employees working a minimum of 24 hours per week are eligible for our Extended Health and Dental benefits package;
3 weeks of vacation time for all employees (based on accrual);
A voluntary RRSP matching program is available to eligible employees.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:Employees new to the company must comply with a paid basic training of 80 hours, which is progressive and adapts to the needs of the person.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education:
+ Minimum of a diploma in a related social services or healthcare field.
+ Preference will be given to candidates with coursework or certifications in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) or a related behavioural science.
Experience:
+ Minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience providing behaviour intervention services to children or youth with complex disabilities and/or medical challenges.
+ Experience working with adolescents is a strong asset.
+ Familiarity with various behaviour intervention techniques and strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Understanding of child and adolescent development, particularly in the context of complex needs.
+ Ability to implement behaviour support plans consistently and accurately.
+ Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries and confidentiality.
+ Excellent observation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team.
+ Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children and youth with disabilities.
+ Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, which may include light lifting, bending, and actively engaging with the individual.
Other Requirements:
+ Successful completion of a HUB clearance screening by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
+ Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or willingness to obtain).
+ Valid BC Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
+ Submission of a clean Driver's Abstract;
+ Have a working cell phone at all times while you are at work. To be used in emergencies and to be able to contact or receive calls or text messages from staff members.
