Job Description


As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI)/Behaviour Therapist (BT) at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis interventions for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder or other learning and development delays and/or maladaptive behaviour. Your role is to execute intervention plans developed and supervised by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst BCBA) to clients in care of Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.Salary: From $21.00 per hourSchedule:

  • Tuesday to Saturday. Weekdays from 2-7pm and Saturdays from 9-5pm
Take an inside look at what you will do each day:
  • Responsible for implementing treatment plans based on best practices.
  • Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour
  • Contributes to the development of ABA programs established by the BCBA to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
  • Assists in conducting baseline measurements and other indirect measures as instructed by the Lead Therapist/BCaBA/BCBA
  • Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
  • Adhere to all ABA training, procedures, and protocols
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
  • Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
  • Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
  • Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety
Here is what you will need to be successful
  • Completed degree in ABA or a related field or pursuing education in Behaviour Analysis (programs that meet Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or BCaBA certification requirements)
  • Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice
  • Current Standard CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
  • Ability to travel within the community
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities will be considered an asset
  • Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
  • Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
