What We Will Ask of You:
The BC provides short term applied behaviour analysis (ABA-based) programming to empower the families of children/youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) between the ages of 0 -18 experiencing one or more high risk behaviours across Northumberland, Peterborough, Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes. The Behaviour Consultant's goal is to prevent crisis by implementing supports within the guiding framework of URS -Respond, Stabilize, Prepare and Repair. The BC researches relevant literature and designs, monitors and evaluates behaviour plans to support desired treatment outcomes in line with the individual goals. The BC takes a leadership role in providing parent and or caregiver training as well as training to school staff to assist in the independent implementation of ABA-based strategies. The BC conducts various assessments, writes reports and behaviour plans, and provides effective evidence-based and ethical practices delivered in accordance with the model outlined by the provincial Ontario Autism Program (OAP) guidelines and clinical framework. In collaboration with a Clinical Supervisor (CS), the BC supports the Behaviour Technician (BT) in the direct implementation of ABA-based programming. The BC also works closely with the URS multidisciplinary team. The BC's role is to ensure best practices are followed and quality service is delivered while enhancing the overall quality of life and independence for service users accessing Autism Services.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide Applied Behavioural Analysis -based services and supports to eligible children/youth with ASD ages under 18.
Perform assessments and baseline measurements.
Create behaviour programs in the areas of Social Skills, Behaviour/Emotion, Daily Living and Communication to meet the needs of parent goals.
Provide consultation in parent training, feedback, corrective feedback and support.
Facilitate groups of 3-10 children or adolescents with ASD.
Provide weekly service to clients for low to moderate intensity and duration of service.
Collect and analyze data to measure the progress of the child/youth.
Receive guidance from the Clinical Supervisor and provide guidance to the team of Behaviour Technicians and Instructor Therapists.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Social Science or equivalent.
Registered Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario qualifications or ability to obtain RBA (Ont.) is an asset.
3+ years of experience working with the ASD population and preferred Experience with ABA based behavioral strategies and functional behavioural assessments and procedures.
Experience writing clinical reports and making evidence based recommendations.
Compassionate and responsible supporter of people, their families, and community partners.
Commitment to maximize resources and improve people's quality of life.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Computer proficiency and excellent communication skills.
Valid G?Class driver's license for the Province of Ontario, access to reliable transportation and have valid proof of automobile insurance with driving for business purposes and a minimum liability of two million dollars.
