Beefsmart has recently merged its business with the beef consulting arm of Gowans Feed Consulting and is hiring for an exciting growing business. Combined, these businesses have served animal producers since 1990, focused on maximizing clients\xe2\x80\x99 net returns by providing industry leading expertise in the fields of nutrition, production management support, input cost reduction and research. Our whole farm analysis and team oriented approach allow our business to continue to grow and offer our producers the most relevant scientific and effective advice. This is a home office based position located in Alberta requiring regular travel to client feedlots in the area as well as some travel within Canada and the United States. Opportunities exist to work out of an office setting if the candidate is located in Lethbridge. : Purpose: \xc2\xb7 Focus on expansion of the customer base for Beefsmart\xe2\x80\x99s nutrition and consulting services business in the western Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The position will also focus on managing existing customer and partner relationships. Key Functions: \xc2\xb7 Identify prospective producers for Beefsmart\xe2\x80\x99s nutrition and consulting programs. \xc2\xb7 Explain and demonstrate the features, advantages and benefits of the Beefsmart nutrition and consulting programs. \xc2\xb7 Complete and summarize tasks and observations at the farm as requested by Nutritionists \xc2\xb7 Be involved in relevant beef industry events to increase the exposure of Beefsmart \xc2\xb7 Maintain relationships with customers and relay nutritional concerns and opportunities to nutritionists \xc2\xb7 Manage the tender process for clients where toll manufacturing is required. \xc2\xb7 Ensure compliance of all toll manufacturers to xisting agreements. \xc2\xb7 Regularly communicate with clients and staff nutritionists on performance and customer satisfaction. \xc2\xb7 Facilitate farm visits for staff nutritionists. \xc2\xb7 Follow up on production challenges related to feed and management. Abilities Required: \xc2\xb7 Strong communication skills to demonstrate value of services with existing and prospective customers. \xc2\xb7 Self-starter with drive to grow the business \xc2\xb7 Ability to operate independently to manage client relationships and solicit new business \xc2\xb7 Effective time management and organization skills necessary for operating in a fast paced work environment. \xc2\xb7 Consultative selling approach to demonstrate value of Beefsmart services and secure new services contracts. Ability to travel on business 24 - 32 weeks per year. Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Experience in feed and/or livestock industries. \xc2\xb7 Strong understanding of feedlot and ranch operations \xc2\xb7 Understanding of commodities markets \xc2\xb7 Applicants with established good reputation with existing and prospective clients in the industry will be given preference. \xc2\xb7 Minimum 5 years of relevant post secondary education and/or work experience with feedlots or ranches \xc2\xb7 Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote). \xc2\xb7 Familiarity with computer technologies in livestock industries is of value. \xc2\xb7 Eligibility for membership in the Institute of Agrologists in the province of residence.
