Position Summary:
The McLeod Lake Indian Band is seeking a dedicated and relationship-focused individual to serve as the
BC Hydro Liaison
. This role is a critical link between MLIB and BC Hydro, ensuring effective communication, collaborative planning, and community engagement in relation to BC Hydro activities on Tse'khene territory.
This is a 1-year contract position, with potential for renewal based on annual funding and project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the main liaison between McLeod Lake Indian Band and BC Hydro staff, facilitating clear and timely communication
Coordinate bi-weekly check-ins to support planning, updates, and partnership initiatives (e.g. AGA planning)
Support community engagement efforts, ensuring MLIB members are informed of BC Hydro activities and have opportunities to ask questions or share concerns
Prepare for and participate in Joint Working Group (JWG), Core Consultation Working Group (CCWG), RAP Technical Working Group (TWG), and other collaborative tables
Represent MLIB in PUM meetings, EF site tours, and the methylmercury sub-committee
Coordinate scheduling of meetings, travel, and site visits involving BC Hydro and MLIB representatives
Support BC Hydro's presence at the AGA, including booth coordination and related logistics
Assist with documentation, meeting summaries, and invoicing support, including tracking of travel, hotel, and meal costs related to BC Hydro liaison activities
Collaborate closely with the Lands Stewardship Director, internal staff, and external partners to ensure culturally informed participation in decision-making processes
Qualifications:
Familiarity with McLeod Lake Indian Band governance, community values, and history
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple meetings and reporting tasks
Prior experience in stakeholder engagement, community liaison, project coordination, or similar roles preferred
Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Willingness to travel as required for site visits, meetings, and tours
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation
Criminal Record Check required
