Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces, and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
Responsibilities
Batching concrete using a computerized batching system
Managing on hand inventory to meet daily production requirements (cement/aggregates/admixtures)
Receiving and entering delivery slips for cementitious materials, aggregates, and admixtures
Daily cleaning, inspecting, and maintenance of the batching system and surrounding areas
Maintaining a healthy environment with respect to cleanliness, production, and safety
Clean out mixer at the end of each batch
Other duties as required
Requirements
Ability to do manual work such as digging trenches and lifting more than 50lbs
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Comfortable with technology such as computers
Ability to read and write
Familiarity with hand tools such as drills, air chisels, etc.
Must be able to work with changing schedules and irregular hours when required
Previous labour experience within a concrete industry is an asset
