We are looking to fill the position of full-time, year-round Base Operations Manager at Fernie Alpine Resort. When guests come to our hill they often comment on the beauty of the surrounding scenery, how breathtaking the mountains are, and most importantly, how well maintained the base area is. The ideal candidate will oversee and coordinate all core base-area operational services and demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple operational teams in a fast-paced environment. They will ensure the resort base remains safe, clean, efficient and guest ready at all times. You Will:

  • Direct daily base operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage and supervise teams responsible for:
  • Parking operations - guest flow, signage, and traffic control.
  • Janitorial services - cleanliness and sanitation standards across facilities.
  • Snow removal - maintaining clear, safe, and accessible pathways, roads, and lots.
  • Security - oversight of base security team and emergency response readiness.
  • Summer landscaping - upkeep of grounds and base-area presentation.
  • Develop schedules, assign responsibilities, and monitor staff performance across all areas.
  • Implement and enforce safety, compliance, and risk management procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with other department managers (Food & Beverage, Rentals & Service, Guest Services) to ensure operational alignment.
  • Manage budgets, equipment needs, and vendor relationships related to base-area services.
  • Provide training, coaching, and leadership to frontline supervisors and staff.
  • Act as point of contact for base-area operational issues and respond effectively to challenges as they arise.
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • To perform other tasks and duties that are applicable
You Have:
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in operations, facilities management, or hospitality leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with safety standards, compliance, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adapt to seasonal operational demands
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive wage: $60-65,000 annually
