Chinook Feeders (2024) is currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Barn Processing Employee to join our cattle feedlot team.

Position Overview:


This role involves assisting with daily processing tasks in the barn, including the care, handling, and management of cattle. The ideal candidate is attentive, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Cattle Handling & Processing:

Assist in tagging, weighing, vaccinating, and administering treatments to cattle following standard protocols.

Animal Care:

Monitor cattle for signs of illness, injury, or distress, and report concerns to supervisors or veterinarians.

Facility Maintenance:

Maintain clean and organized barns, pens, and work areas; clean and sanitize equipment, chutes, and tools.

Equipment Operation:

Safely operate feedlot equipment, including chutes, gates, and other processing tools.

Record Keeping:

Assist in documenting cattle treatments, processing activities, and health records accurately.

Safety Compliance:

Follow all feedlot safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and low-stress cattle handling practices.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with barn crew, pen riders, and feedlot staff to ensure smooth operations and animal welfare.

Qualifications:



Previous experience working in a cattle feedlot or livestock processing environment is preferred. Basic knowledge of cattle health, handling, and processing procedures. Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork skills. Familiarity with operating farm equipment is an asset.

Working Conditions:



Outdoor and indoor work in all weather conditions. Physically demanding environment with repetitive tasks and heavy lifting. Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
