Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate, dependable and hardworking Barista/Counter Server to join our team. This is an intermediate to senior entry position ( please, no students at this time) for our family run, down to earth style cafe, serving up great soup, sandwiches, coffee and baked goods to Calgarians for over 30 years.
As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while preparing high-quality beverages and food items. Your expertise in customer service and food handling will ensure that every guest has an exceptional experience. Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items according to established recipes and standards. Operate the POS register and handle cash transactions accurately, including basic math calculations for change. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, taking orders efficiently, and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, ensuring all items are fresh and presented attractively. Collaborate with team members and management to ensure smooth operations during peak hours while managing time effectively.

Requirements

Previous barista experience or experience in the food industry a must. Food prep and general duties relating to the front of the house, an asset. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment. Basic math skills for cash handling and order processing. Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques. Ability to work well in a team-oriented atmosphere while also being self-motivated. Fluent in English.

Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
