Job Purpose

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee drinks and other beverages to our customers in a friendly and accurate manner. They must be knowledgeable about coffee brewing techniques, quality focused with great attention to detail, and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal Barista has excellent communication and customer service skills, a passion for coffee and a desire to learn and grow in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Contribute to a work environment in line with the company culture: safe, enjoyable, trauma-informed. Be aligned and knowledgeable about the vision of The Wild And Free Cafe and act according to its intended vision Operating and maintaining equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, etc. Being trained in all areas of the cafe but with an emphasis on running the espresso bar Prepare drinks for customers in an efficient manner with attention to quality and consistency Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area, including stocking supplies and disposing of waste. Leading with hospitality to provide excellent customer service Maintaining knowledge of coffee-making techniques, and staying up-to-date on new and emerging trends in the industry. Following health and safety guidelines, including food handling and hygiene procedures. Following established procedures for opening and closing the cafe, including counting the till, cleaning and restocking, and securing the premises. Performing other related duties as needed

Key Qualifications

High school diploma or GED an asset Previous industry experience within the food and beverage preparation industry and asset Previous experience as a Barista required Able to communicate clearly and confidently in English. (All other languages an asset)
Working Conditions

The part-time position works 10-20 hours per week on a flexible schedule TBD between Monday and Saturday (Some evening hours) Job often requires working around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Work environment may be noisy and involve exposure to hot surfaces and steam. Will require frequent movement (standing, walking, use of hands and arms) and communication, as well as the use of taste and smell. May be exposed to safety hazards (e.g. slippery floor, hot oven, sharp objects). May require lifting and/or moving up to 50lbs May require working outside Hours outside of typical working schedule may be required; re: special events etc. We support a work/life balance and you reserve the right to turn down work opportunities that are outside of your scheduled work hours.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
