Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Barback to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

A Busser/Barback's job description focuses on supporting restaurant operations by maintaining a clean and well-prepared dining area, Concert Hall, Pool Hallwhich includes clearing and resetting tables, polishing silverware, and assisting Bartenders. They also help maintain cleanliness throughout the restaurant by performing side work, such as wiping tables, cleaning fixtures, and restocking supplies . Key duties involve clearing dirty dishes, refilling water glasses, and alerting servers to guest needs, ensuring efficient table turns and a positive customer experience.

In addition, they support bar staff with performing behind-the-scenes tasks such as prepping garnishes, cleaning glassware, and stocking glassware and inventory. They also assist servers and bar staff with opening and closing duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Restocking and Inventory:

Stocking bar supplies, which may include liquors, beers, spirits, mixers, and ice. Stocking service stations with necessary items such as napkins, condiments, silverware, and water pitchers. Reporting inventory shortages. Huling kegs to keep the bar stocked.

Preparation:

Assisting with opening duties. Preparing and replenishing garnishes such as fruits. Ensuring all necessary bar tools and equipment are clean and readily available. Ensuring all serving tools and equipment are clean and readily available. Filling water stations.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Washing and polishing glassware and other bar equipment. Cleaning spills and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the bar area and surrounding tables and Washrooms. Taking out trash and recycling. Wiping tables, fixtures, and highchairs.

Bar and Server Support:

Assisting bartenders and servers by providing them with needed supplies. Helping with opening and closing duties to get the bar and restaurant ready for service. Flipping tables and ensuring the bar area is clear of empty glasses and other items. Occasionally assisting customers with simple requests or questions. Refilling water glasses. Clear dirty plates, glassware, and silverware from tables, wipe down tables, and reset them with clean linens and utensils. Maintain cleanliness in the dining area, including cleaning spills, and perform "side work" like folding napkins and polishing glassware. Assist servers with delivering food.

Other:

Other duties as assigned Must abide by club policies, procedures, practices and all relevant legislation including health and safety and workplace violence. Experience using a POS system, knowledge of NorthStar system an asset. Good customer service skills, tact, and diplomacy. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and special events, irregular days off and start times. Able to work unsupervised. Criminal background check. Smart Serve certificate. Basic understanding of food and beverage service and offerings.
