Job Description

As a Banquet Supervisor, you take a leading role in bringing events to life--from high-level corporate meetings to unforgettable weddings and galas. With strong leadership, exceptional organization, and a passion for delivering seamless service, you will guide your team in creating flawlessly executed events that exceed guest expectations. As a Banquet Supervisor you will:




Lead Event Execution

- Oversee the setup, flow, and breakdown of banquet events according to BEOs, ensuring accuracy in room layouts, equipment placement, decor, and timing. You'll verify that all spaces are guest-ready and meet brand, safety, and event specifications.

Guide & Support Your Team

- Assign stations and responsibilities, train new associates, monitor performance, and ensure safe, efficient, and guest-centered work practices. Your leadership directly shapes the team's success and the quality of every event.

Oversee Event Flow with Confidence

- Monitor all functions throughout your shift, anticipating needs, adjusting staffing, and supporting servers and bartenders to maintain smooth service. You'll partner closely with Banquet managers and culinary leaders to address last-minute changes with professionalism.

Maintain Control and Compliance

- Manage and document the requisition and return of all alcohol; uphold all health, safety, and hotel policies; and ensure associates follow proper procedures. You'll maintain accurate records, cost information, equipment inventories, and post-event supervisory reports.

Promote Excellence in Cleanliness & Organization

- Ensure banquet spaces, equipment, and storage areas remain spotless, organized, and fully stocked. You'll identify maintenance issues, verify all equipment is functioning properly, and drive high presentation standards before, during, and after events.

Foster a Positive Guest Experience

- Be visible, approachable, and solutions-driven. Whether assisting with AV adjustments, coordinating with the kitchen, or stepping in to support service, you are the point person ensuring guests feel cared for at every moment.



Job Requirements




High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality coursework an asset Minimum 2 years of progressive food & beverage experience in an upscale hotel or event setting Previous banquet experience required; supervisory experience strongly preferred Experience in a unionized environment an asset Serve Right certification required Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods Strong communication skills and ability to read/interpret BEOs Excellent leadership, organization, and problem-solving abilities Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late nights





Additional Job Duties




Lead banquet setups, event flow, and breakdowns according to BEO specifications Assign stations, train new associates, and support team performance and safety practices Liaise with culinary and banquet leaders, monitor event progress, and adjust staffing as needed Manage alcohol requisitions/returns and maintain accurate records, logs, and reports Assist servers and bartenders throughout functions to ensure smooth service Oversee and participate in room resets, clean-up, and post-event organization Ensure banquet spaces, equipment, and storage areas remain clean, stocked, and properly maintained Identify and report maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly Participate in interviewing, training, coaching, and scheduling as required Perform other related duties to support banquet operations and guest satisfaction
