Baker :
Purpose of this Position:
The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking and finishing a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, savory baked goods, and special menu items that enhance the overall guest experience at Ste. Anne's Spa. This role requires both technical skill and creativity, with accountability for product quality, food safety, and maintaining the high service standards expected at a Four Diamond hotel resort.

Wage: Starting at $21.60 per hour
Paid bi-weekly
Responsibilities:
1. Baking and food production:
Prepare and bake breads, cakes, pastries, cookies, pies, tarts, icings, fillings, and savory items (e.g. pizzas, hot sandwiches).
Decorate and finish specialty products with icing, glazes, garnishes and other presentation details.
Operate mixers, ovens and other industrial baking equipment safely and efficiently.
2. Quality and safety:
Monitor food product quality to ensure proper taste, texture, and appearance.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Keep work stations tidy, organized, sanitized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Comply with the Glute-Free Certification Program, including logs, batch controls, cleaning checklists, and monitoring forms.
3. Teamwork and service:
Work collaboratively with other bakery staff and inter-departmental teams (e.g. wholesale, kitchen, events).
Provide support by acting as a back-up representative for the bakery retail staff as needed.
Answer guest questions about food knowledgably and professionally. If unsure of an answer, seek input from co-workers and follow-up in a timely manner.
Demonstrate politeness, patience, and professionalism with guests, public customers, and colleagues.
Job Requirements:
Availability to cover mornings, evenings, weekends or holidays as needed.
Standard shifts: 8 hours with a 30-minute meal break.
Must maintain proper personal hygiene including clean, controlled hair and appropriate head/hair covering.
Can tolerate exposure to hot and cold environments.
Able to stand for long periods of time.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to squat, kneel, bend, lift, twist at the waist, and reach above the shoulder.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year's experience in the food industry.
Experience with baking in a commercial setting is an asset.
Familiarity with various dietary restrictions, food allergies, and/or special diets is an asset.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
