Bush Order Provisions is hiring an individual to make our value-add baked goods (frozen products, pies, pizzas, etc), bake off many of our bread products, and assist with shaping primary baked products.

We make all products from scratch. We do not bake products from frozen unless we've made them.

We are looking for an individual passionate about baking and local food with keen interest in being a part of a small family-run business. We have a strong commitment to the success of the business and to the physical, social health and wellness of our community. Our operation encompasses a wholesale bakery, Retail Farm Store, and an abundant market garden where local fruit and vegetables are sold alongside our baked goods, or incorporated into them.

The second baker position will contribute, but not be limited to the following operational requirements; baking many products in the convection ovens, preparing ingredients for baked products, crafting our frozen pizzas, cookies and cream cheese production, crafting sausages rolls and hand pies using our rough pastry, shaping, boiling and baking bagels; bagging and labelling products; and closing down the bakery kitchen for the day.

As a small team, we communicate regularly and are in constant pursuit of the most efficient production schedule possible

The secondary baker position will provide, for the right candidate, the opportunity to learn and advance in the bakery business, with the opportunity to grow in areas of interest.

It is preferred, though not necessary, that candidates be familiar with working in a retail/commercial kitchen or bakery, and have kitchen cleaning experience or knowledge, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

Roles/Responsibilities:

Second Baker (+/- 32hrs/week, full-time)

Prepare and bake Focaccia, Shape, boil and bake Bagels, Hand-Stretching and Par-bake Pizza shells, Prepare frozen pizzas, Prepare secondary products:Cookies & Ingredients Cream Cheese & Ingredients; Prepare Savoury Pastries: sausage rolls/hand pies; Prepare sweet pies Prep dough inclusions and pizza ingredients; Prepare and weigh the flour for mixer; Prepare ready-made food products; Process Vegetables from the Farm/Garden Prepare Pastries Creams Bag and label bread products; Manage Sanitary Program:Wipe and sanitize all surfaces; Clean and sanitize all mixing equipment;Sweep and mop floors daily;Help clean staff bathroom;

Application Requirements

Applicants must live or be willing to relocate to Yellowknife, NT. Ability to lift up to 20kg comfortably. Ability to be on your feet for long hours at a time. Ability to work in a fast-paced food production environment Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.

Schedule

7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (production dependant) Tuesday-Saturday (Summer: Monday - Saturday) 25-37.5/hours per week Annual Shut Down: 1-weeks in October/1-Week in December/April

Salary

Wage dependant on experience, with the opportunity for raise depending on job performance.

Qualifications

Experience was any type of baking or handling of dough would be a huge asset. Understanding and having the intuition to proof dough properly is an asset.
