The Background and Security Investigator operates within the Background Security Clearance unit in conjunction with Human Resources. This position is to assist the Background Security Clearance Unit with HRP's recruitment processes through the completion of thorough, timely and effective background and security clearance investigations.
Reporting to the Sergeant in charge of the Background and Security Clearance Unit, the Background & Security Clearance Investigator will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into the backgrounds of individuals applying for employment with Halifax Regional Police or Halifax Regional Municipality employees providing services for Halifax Regional Police. You will gather and analyze information obtained through interviews, reference checks, databases, and other sources to validate the accuracy of applicants' claims and assess their risk level. The successful candidate will have strong research and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
