: THE GERIATRIC SERVICES PROGRAM REGISTERED NURSE IS A COMPETENT CLINICAL PRACTITIONER ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS AND FAMILIES WITH HEALTH-CARE NEEDS RANGING FROM UNCOMPLICATED TO COMPLEX AND RAPIDLY CHANGING STATUS. AS A PROFESSIONAL THE GERIATRIC SERVICES PROGRAM NURSE DEMONSTRATES A CARING APPROACH WHICH REFLECTS AND INCORPORATES GERIATRIC EXPERTISE. THIS POSITION IS PART OF AN INTERPROFESSIONAL TEAM WORKING WITH MULTIPLE DISCIPLINES. THE INCUMBENT WILL ADAPT AND PRACTICE IN THE MULTIPLE ROLES INHERENT IN THE PROGRAM, SOME INDEPENDENTLY ON-SITE AND IN THE COMMUNITY: INREACH, OUTREACH, DAY PROGRAM, AND CLINICS.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Experience
1. Minimum of five (5) years recent acute care experience is required, three (3) of which must be in caring for older adults with complex medical issues.
2. CNA Gerintological certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
