The opportunity

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President of Corporate Lending to join our tight knit and focused Corporate Lending team. This is an opportunity to develop and manage an incredibly diverse portfolio of syndicated corporate loans in a fast-paced, personable and consistent environment. You will have the ability to truly help businesses achieve their goals through strategic partnerships and creative solutions in a wide variety of industries and regions. This is not your typical sales role \xe2\x80\x93 You need to have the skills to perform in-depth, and at times, complex assessments and will rely heavily on your sound credit skills. Driving business development activities through reputation, rapport and consistency will be keys to your success. The opportunity to truly steer and grow your own portfolio of business has no limits with CWB!

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing

Dynamically! Fluid and purpose driven days that put you in the driver\xe2\x80\x99s seat. Acting as the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s representative in the Canadian corporate banking community will mean dealing with senior bankers at other institutions, CFO\'s and Treasurers of corporate borrowers and professionals/advisors in the financial industry. No two days are the same.

Prioritizing and organizing your day in an environment that can have tight timelines imposed by borrowers and lead banks. Practice your negotiation skills by structuring complex lending arrangements with sophisticated counter parties.

Exercising and developing your financial knowledge base \xe2\x80\x93 reading, learning and actively information seeking market data, lending strategies and products, industry activity and much more.

Using customer insights to drive and guide your prioritization and handling of critical relationships, information, and risk management as part of the corporate lending team.

Applying your sharp analytical abilities and critical thinking skills to see the logic behind the deals. We aren\xe2\x80\x99t talking about processing and pushing paper; we mean wearing and utilizing your thinking cap to modify established methods or procedures and recognizing problem situations to reach new solutions.

Act as a leader and go-to resource for the corporate lending team to mentor support staff and loan administrators with a grace and humor that allows approachability and instills trust.

Gaining exposure to a wide variety of clients in real estate and various commercial industries that will build your skillset and keep your work compelling and changing.

Participating in and getting excited about continual learning! This dynamic job calls for a life-long learner.

Who we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for & what you\xe2\x80\x99ve done

You are all about people. Be it your clients or your colleagues \xe2\x80\x93 you like communicating and connecting with others to provide solutions and build real, lasting relationships. You have a history of getting the job done, and a track record of closing the deal.

You\xe2\x80\x99re able to see the bigger picture. Your analytical focus and practiced credit writing skills allow you to hone on the important details and work with complex financial models. Familiar with Excel and Moody\xe2\x80\x99s Financial Analyst?

You are not afraid to learn \xe2\x80\x93 continuously and consistently. New challenges excite you, and you\xe2\x80\x99re not intimidated by complex loan documentation or externally imposed deadlines.

You\xe2\x80\x99ve put in your time getting your Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent education. Have your CA, CFA or MBA? You\xe2\x80\x99re ahead of the game.

You\xe2\x80\x99ve spent more than ten years in a commercial lending or corporate finance environment and have had vast exposure to commercial lending.

You\xe2\x80\x99re a self-starter, independent and accountable. You\xe2\x80\x99re ambitious and have a real interest in financial analysis, risk mitigation and finding creative solutions.

You are energized when faced with ambiguity and can adjust your approach \xe2\x80\x93 with people and problems \xe2\x80\x93 to respond efficiently and effectively in changing conditions.

You\xe2\x80\x99re computer savvy \xe2\x80\x93 MS Word, Outlook and Excel are essential, and exposure to a lending or banking system would be ideal.

You\xe2\x80\x99re able to and interested in doing some travelling for business related purposes.
