The Total Rewards team provides leadership and guidance in the development and delivery of effective compensation, retirement and benefit strategies, policies, and programs that support TD Bank business and talent objectives. The Compensation Advisory team supports all aspects of compensation, including compensation planning, governance, reporting, mergers and acquisitions, program design, incentive design, equity and other forms of long and short-term compensation, research, and in-house consulting to our Human Resource Business Partners. The Compensation Advisory team provides tailored compensation solutions, advice and consultation on all aspects of Total Rewards.
Reporting to the Vice President Compensation Advisory, the AVP Compensation Advisory is a senior rewards leader responsible for overseeing a team of high-performing rewards professionals who act as trusted advisors supporting Corporate, Platforms & Technology, and the Transformation, Enablement and Customer Experience organizations. The AVP works in close partnership with business leaders, HR Business Partners, and enterprise HR groups to develop and deliver high-caliber compensation guidance, programs and initiatives that align to the business and talent objectives and propel our Human Resources and Total Rewards strategy.
The AVP will collaborate with internal and external partners to manage the proactive development, implementation and ongoing delivery of our programs. In doing so, the AVP will:
  • Contribute to the Compensation Advisory vision and strategy and long-term planning activities which underpin TD\xe2\x80\x99s Human Resources Strategy
  • Have a thorough understanding of the various business groups\xe2\x80\x99 strategic direction and ensure alignment of business-specific compensation programs to regulatory requirements and enterprise Total Rewards principles, objectives and organizational values
  • Actively monitor trends in the competitive market and build out strategies to support the business in enabling their talent strategy
  • Build a strong understanding of external comparative organizational structures, ensuring both compensation designs and pay level opportunities support the attraction and retention of talent
  • Provide thought leadership and deep subject matter expertise as part of the leadership team, in the development of the team roadmap and execution of large-scale incentive design initiatives with a future-focused and simplified mindset
  • Continue to optimize the forecasting/monitoring of incentive plan effectiveness with a view of deepening analytics and insights, making connections through data and adding value for the business from a productivity, engagement and conduct risk lens
  • Lead the team in ongoing and ad-hoc analysis/trending and conduct modeling and stress testing for strategic analysis
  • Provide trusted advice and support to executives and HR Business Partners on questions of policy and interpretation of compensation guidelines and incentive plans
  • Prepare Conduct Risk Committee and Board materials, ensuring absolute data integrity and accuracy and preparing succinct summaries and overviews of initiatives
  • Provide enterprise oversight and critical expertise on the Executive Compensation Program, as well as oversee complex employee recommendations with a goal of optimizing current processes for effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Lead year end for the portfolios in scope under the role, providing guidance to senior business leaders, including SET, HR Business Partners and provide oversight of the team to ensure alignment with TD\xe2\x80\x99s compensation philosophy
  • Lead a team of rewards professionals, with strong emphasis on performance management, coaching, development and team engagement

Requirements:
  • University degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Finance, Economics or Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 10 \xe2\x80\x93 15 years of leadership experience in Compensation, Total Rewards and/or Human Resources with proven depth in driving organizational change and consulting with senior level audiences
  • Ability to develop and deploy a vision and strategy a team and partners, and aligning stakeholders to that vision and influencing to drive change
  • Proven leadership in large change programs and processes in partnership with the business, demonstrating the ability to act as a catalyst for change
  • Forward thinking, innovative and creative, with an ability to progress the function and fosters an environment that supports innovation and breakthrough ideas
  • Strong external network with demonstrated ability to attract talent
  • Excellent people management skills with demonstrated experience in leading and developing high performing teams
  • Proven track record executing, administering, and designing competitive total rewards programs and managing through large change initiatives
  • Significant experience in a numerical/analytical capacity with the ability to review and analyze data and present findings to senior business leaders
  • Comfortable operating in a complex, globally, matrixed organization
  • Strong communicator who engages colleagues, business partners and external stakeholders productively
  • Confident presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate working with various partners and leaders at all levels
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills with a strong ability to deliver results with a commitment to operational and service excellence
  • Negotiation and impact and influence capability to drive stakeholder engagement, while remaining objective to reach the right outcome
