Join Flair's Safety, Security & Compliance team, where proactive oversight and regulatory alignment safeguard our operations and passengers. Reporting to the Director, Safety, Security & Compliance, the Security Manager is responsible for the effective management of Flair's Security Management System (SeMS) and daily security operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards while leading the development, implementation, and improvement of security policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies. Acting as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, law enforcement, and industry stakeholders, the Security Manager also fosters a strong culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization.


This position is based on-site at our offices in Edmonton (YEG), Calgary (YYC), Vancouver (YVR), or Toronto (YYZ).

A Day in the Life:



Oversee daily security operations, including the review, investigation, and resolution of security reports and incidents, while ensuring compliance with the Security Management System (SeMS). Conduct and support internal and external security investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate follow-up. Manage all security-related documentation, including investigation files, trackers, statistical reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Develop, implement, and maintain the Security Management System (SeMS) and the company's Security Manual, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards. Ensure the SeMS and Security Manual encompass aviation, corporate, physical, personnel, and cyber security. Design, audit, and update security training programs; deliver initial and recurrent training as required. Oversee the development and delivery of training in collaboration with the Learning and Development team, ensuring consistency across the airline. Assess and mitigate security threats and risks and implement corrective and preventive measures as needed. Ensure effective implementation of threat and risk assessment protocols and initiation of intelligence support during heightened threat periods. Manage security-sensitive information and documentation to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with applicable requirements. Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on security matters and serve as the primary liaison with law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders. Manage processes for lawful requests for information and assistance from law enforcement, regulatory, and other government agencies. Chair the Operational Security Committee and ensure collaboration with commercial, operations, and quality assurance teams. Represent the airline in external security committees, forums, and working groups. Develop and foster relationships with Transport Canada, CATSA, TSA, and other municipal, provincial, federal, and international agencies. Promote and support a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization. Oversee the development and implementation of an airline-wide security awareness program and instill a culture of security at all levels. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

+ Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Aviation Management, or a related field.
+ A combination of relevant education and extensive professional experience in aviation security management or regulatory compliance may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

+ Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in aviation security, regulatory compliance, or airline operations.
+ Direct experience with the development, implementation, and management of a Security Management System (SeMS) within an airline or aviation regulatory environment.
+ Demonstrated experience working with Transport Canada and other regulatory bodies; familiarity with applicable Canadian Aviation Security Regulations (CASRs) and international standards (ICAO, TSA, CATSA).
+ Proven background in conducting security investigations, incident reporting, and risk assessments in an operational setting.
+ Experience in developing and delivering aviation security training programs is an asset.
+ Previous airline operations experience, particularly in safety, quality assurance, or compliance functions, is considered an asset.

- Previous experience with law enforcement agencies such as the RCMP, police services, or federal/provincial security agencies.

Skills and Abilities:

+ Strong knowledge of aviation security regulations, risk management methodologies, and operational security best practices.
+ Ability to analyze complex security issues, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
+ Skilled in developing, documenting, and maintaining security policies, manuals, and compliance programs.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with regulators, law enforcement, and industry stakeholders.
+ Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Capacity to remain calm, resourceful, and decisive under pressure, particularly during security-related events or operational disruptions.
+ High degree of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and ability to work with security-related data systems.
+ Ability to promote and foster a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization.

Requirements:

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
+ Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
+ Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
