Automation Engineering Manager

to lead our automation team and deliver innovative solutions that push the boundaries of industrial automation.

This position will be based in the

Greater Toronto Area.



Your Role & Responsibilities:



Lead and manage the automation engineering team, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance management Oversee the design and development of control systems for automated machines, robotic cells, and material handling systems Establish engineering best practices, standards, and procedures for automation design and implementation Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for automation projects Support business development by providing technical input for proposals, customer meetings, and project scoping Review and approve PLC, HMI, SCADA, and robotics programming for quality, efficiency, and safety Ensure compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and corporate policies Drive continuous improvement and innovation in automation architecture, integration, and commissioning processes Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to optimize system performance Travel internationally as required (20%) for customer site visits, project support, and commissioning oversight

What You Bring:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline (Master's degree an asset) 10+ years of experience in automation engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role Proven track record in managing teams and delivering automation projects on time and within budget Expertise in Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens PLCs, robotics integration, and vision systems Strong knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP) and safety systems (Category 4, SIL-rated) Experience in VFDs, servos, SCADA systems, and advanced troubleshooting/commissioning Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment Valid passport with willingness to travel internationally (20%)
