Plasman Corporate Head Quarters, 5245 Burke Street Windsor, ON is immediately seeking a new member to join our team as:

Automation Engineer - New Model Development

The Automation Engineer - New Model Development will engage with estimating, operations, engineering, and purchasing to ensure that new assembly strategies are effective from a cost, throughput, safety, and longevity perspective. They will contribute to maintaining capital spend within program requirements by ensuring vendors meet equipment standards and expectations on time and with customer part quality and quantity levels achieved.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate process of assembly strategy through machine design and
  • Prepare RFQ process for outsourcing
  • Review quotes and award
  • Complete manufacturing plans for PAR
  • Develop / evaluate local automation supply
  • Participate in feasibility reviews either: directly - completing feasibility open issues and presenting them directly to the program team or in-directly - completing feasibility open-issues and providing them to a team member.
  • Participate in facility program activities alongside the manufacturing engineers as
  • Optimize manufacturing operations through analytical studies of the current operating parameters and processes on a continuous basis.
  • Provide recommendations and input on assembly design for all facility
  • Support MEs of assembly ECN reviews and
  • Provide support to program management group with respect to product technical support and equipment build.
  • Identify benchmark conditions on current and competing parts that can be applied to new products in early development.
  • Comply with established rules, procedures, and Health and Safety
  • Any other duties outline by department
MINIMUM EDUCATION/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the following minimum education qualifications:
  • Must possess a recognized Engineering Technical diploma in a related area with preference for candidates with a university degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledgeable in Integrated Manufacturing and Design related to both OEM and Manufacturing
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the following minimum work experience qualifications:
  • Must have 7+ years\' experience within automotive engineering
  • Experience with additional 3D modeling software is considered an
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of plastics joining methods such as sonic welding, vibration welding, screw assembly, Bonding & Vision systems.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of automotive exterior
  • Knowledgeable in integrated manufacturing technology as it relates to the
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to perform well in high pressure situations.
