We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Automation Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems for our clients. In this role you will work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet the needs of our customers. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving abilities, and the willingness to travel to client sites as required. The salary for this role will be dependent on the experience of the applicant.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients to understand their automation requirements and develop customized control systems to meet their needs.
Manage client programs for electrical, automation and controls.
Develop PLC programs using Omron PLCs and other PLC platforms as required (Allen-Bradley & Siemens).
Develop and execute test plans and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
Execute panel design and complete wiring schematics.
Assist with or perform machine / system wiring and panel builds.
Perform system commissioning and provide on-site support during the installation and startup phases.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation and control technologies to provide innovative solutions to clients.
Document all system designs, changes, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
Provide technical training and support for clients and internal teams.
Support customer concerns and breakdowns which require Automation Engineering expertise.
Provide client solutions to engineering and process changes that affect machine automation and controls.
Other duties as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years experience working with Omron controls including programming, troubleshooting, and system integration.
Experience with other PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley Rockwell Automation controls (Studio 5000 Logix Designer, FactoryTalk View Studio, View Designer), Siemens, etc...) is a plus.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other field devices.
Proficient in programming languages commonly used in PLC systems (i.e. ladder logic, structured text, etc...).
Experience with industrial networking protocols (i.e. Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP) and communication interfaces.
Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Motoman, ABB, etc...), including programming and troubleshooting.
Experience with vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron, etc...), including programming and troubleshooting.
Knowledgeable in pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and control system drawings and schematics.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and internal teams.
Ability to support client equipment remotely.
Willingness to travel to client sites for project installations, commissioning, and support.
