Are you an experienced Automation professional with a passion for optimizing operations? The Automation Advisor provides technical leadership, direction, and professional guidance to Operations & Logistics (O&L) Products to ensure safe, cost-effective and timely execution of a subset of high profile economic and regulatory compliance projects across Suncor's 17 O&L Products sites (16 Canadian Terminals and the Ethanol Plant) in 5 provinces.
Minimum Requirements:Undergraduate degree (or Technologist diploma) in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent with 7-10 years' work experience Oil and Gas industry experience, preferably in Refinery, Pipelines or Distribution operations 7-10 years in systems integration and strong programming background of PLC, DCS, SIS, SCADA, or HMI systems Knowledge of review of controls system documentation like control narratives, logic diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, loop wiring diagrams Project expertise in the development and execution of complex and development of startup and commissioning plans Excellent communication (written, verbal, and listening), change management, non-authoritative leadership and organizational skills

Responsibilities:Accountable for safe, cost-effective and timely execution of portfolio of high profile economic and regulatory compliance projects across the 17 O&L Products owned and operated sites, including the Canadian Terminals and the Ethanol plant. Support the efforts of the integrated team to deliver a portfolio of safe, efficient and effective capital projects. Develop scope of work related to automation and instrumentation. Review engineering work package developed by vendors for quality and meeting requirements of Suncor standards Ensures all health, safety and environmental standards are upheld; monitors the effective application of project development and execution best practices and addresses actions arising from Gate Reviews, Field Level Risk Assessments, Critical Controls Assurance activities, and Incident Learning Program

Location and other Key Details:You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs This is an office-based role with regular overnight travel throughout Canada Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
