Introduction

Reporting to one of our Packaging Supervisors, Automated Controls Technicians maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs automated manufacturing and packaging machines to ensure manufacturing systems operate at target capacities and efficiencies. Our ACT\xe2\x80\x99s also work as operators within our Packaging department.

This role ensures the efficient running of our packaging equipment. Automated Controls Technicians are skilled and reliable with the ability to work with attention to detail and safety standards. Regarded as Subject Matter Experts on packaging equipment, our ACT\xe2\x80\x99s are team players and require close collaboration with our line Leads, Supervisors and Associates. The goal is to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency.

Position Overview

\xc2\xb7Troubleshoot equipment issues and work with the Maintenance and Engineering departments to improve equipment reliability

\xc2\xb7Setting up machines to start a production cycle including labelers, printers, robotic fillers, and pumps

\xc2\xb7Controlling and adjusting machine settings (e.g. speed)

\xc2\xb7Feeding raw material or parts to semi-automated machines

\xc2\xb7Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools

\xc2\xb7Test operation of machines periodically

\xc2\xb7Fix issues that might occur during the shift

\xc2\xb7Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws

\xc2\xb7Keep records of approved and defective units or final products

\xc2\xb7Maintain activity logs

\xc2\xb7Provide technical support for instrumentation and controls systems

\xc2\xb7Alongside the manufacturers of equipment and our Engineering team assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment to meet the needs of our packaging operations

Qualifications

\xc2\xb7Diploma from a certified post-secondary 2-year Technician or 3-year Technologist program

\xc2\xb72-4 years work experience in manufacturing environments. Packaging specifically an asset.

\xc2\xb7Solid knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical concepts required

\xc2\xb7Demonstrated understanding of programming and troubleshooting experience with programmable devices

\xc2\xb7OACETT membership an asset.

\xc2\xb7Physically fit; standing and/or sitting will be required for long periods of time and must be able to lift up to 25 lbs

\xc2\xb7Clear background checks

\xc2\xb7Must be able to work various shift schedules as required (see below)

SCHEDULE

\xe2\x97\x8f \xe2\x80\x9cHalf Continental\xe2\x80\x9d rotating shift schedule (Days ONLY): 4 days one week, 3 days the following week

\xe2\x97\x8f Sunday through to Saturday (7-day operation). Hours are 7:30am \xe2\x80\x93 8:00pm (12.5 hours)

\xe2\x97\x8f Breaks are: three 30 min breaks to be broken up based on team needs and discussed with Supervisor/Manager

Location: Aylmer, Ontario. Role is required to be on site.

WORKING CONDITIONS (ON SITE):

This role is performed on site in either our Aylmer or London, Ontario locations and Motif provides all required PPE and has continued manufacturing safety protocols: a well-fitted mask must be worn while inside our production areas.
