Auto Body Paint Technician

Job Description

Auto body painter job duties include preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking, mixing and matching paint colors, applying primers and coats of paint using spray guns, and inspecting and touching up the finish for imperfections. They also work to restore vehicle exteriors, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and collaborate with other technicians to ensure quality repairs are completed on time.
Surface Preparation

Cleaning:

Thoroughly clean vehicle surfaces to remove dirt, grease, and debris.

Sanding:

Sand, smooth, and prep surfaces to create an ideal base for paint adhesion.

Masking:

Use tape and masking materials to protect areas that should not be painted.
Painting and Finishing

Color Matching:

Accurately mix and blend paints to match the vehicle's original color or a custom request.

Application:

Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using spray guns to achieve an even and flawless finish.

Detailing:

Apply decals and other finishes as part of the restoration process.
Quality Control

Inspection:

Carefully inspect the finished paint job for any imperfections, runs, or sags.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
