Part of the LCI Education network, LaSalle College is the largest bilingual college in North America. It is comprised of six specialized schools, including Fashion, Arts and Design; VFX and Video Games; Humanities and Social Sciences; Management and Technology; and Hospitality and Tourism, as well as an online training school, and offers more than 60 programs related to these schools.

The person in this position performs technical tasks related to the acquisition, maintenance, operation and control of audiovisual equipment. He/she applies and collaborates in updating the policies, regulations and procedures in force, and ensures compliance with the regulations of the Documentation Centre. She participates in the reception of users and in the various operations of the counter offered by the Documentation Centre (College Library). She or he also participates in the various related tasks entrusted to the Documentation Centre.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists users with their projects, provides technical advice, suggests approaches, methods or possible modifications (technical training of equipment);

Assists in the installation of audiovisual equipment for student or teacher presentations;

Installs and operates equipment for special events;

May be called upon to communicate with outside applicants to exchange information of a technical nature regarding project feasibility, timelines, etc;

Make copies and transfers of audiovisual documents (DVD, VHS, CD, USB key, etc.);

Follows up with IT and maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment in the classroom (broken equipment, installation, etc.);

Communicate with teachers when equipment breaks down in class to find alternative solutions, etc;

Maintains the inventory of audiovisual material in class and in the Documentation Centre;

Carries out various tasks related to the choice and acquisition of audiovisual equipment: evaluation of relevance and costs, verification of technical characteristics, choice of supplier;

Consults various specialised publications and all recent sources of technical bibliographies in order to keep up to date with technological developments in the field;

Manages the audiovisual budget;

Obtains required approvals, prepares and verifies purchase orders and claims;

Enter information into the acquisitions management database;

Follows up with suppliers and ensures proper receipt of equipment;

Orders equipment, films (DVDs) and specific supplies;

Carries out tasks relating to the preparation of equipment. (Labelling, anti-theft system, affixing of barcode);

Checks, cleans, adjusts and makes minor repairs to equipment, or sends defective equipment to the supplier and follows up;

Welcomes and informs customers, takes note of their needs;

Provides technical assistance on various equipment and tools, specific to the Documentation Centre or common to the whole College: room reservation software, photocopiers, scanners, PaperCut software, office automation software, connection to the LaSalle network and to various platforms, etc. (grouping of several points);

Informs users about the application of the policies, procedures and regulations of the Documentation Centre;

Collects fines;

Supervises the entry and exit of users and ensures that the rules are generally applied;

Participates in the storage of material and the classification of books on the shelves;

Performs all other related tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Experience & Training

College diploma (DEC) with an appropriate field of specialization or a diploma whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority;

Bilingualism (oral and written);

Skills required to install sound equipment (microphones, speakers, sound console), projection equipment (video projector, screens, televisions) and lighting systems at events such as speeches and conferences;

Mastery of digital cameras (SLR and compact), video cameras, GoPro, with complementary accessories (flash and lighting, tripods, etc.).
