Role Description: Associate Teacher - Lower School (Grades 3-8)
The associate teacher role is designed for teachers who are new to the profession or who are looking to transition to working with students with neurodiverse learning profiles. Associate teachers are classroom leaders with an important position supporting lead teachers and implementing individualized tools, strategies, and resources for differentiated learners. This position plays a key role in shaping students' experiences at school. Associate teachers are educational professionals with a drive towards creating individualised learning opportunities for all members of their classroom. Furthermore, associate teachers at The Study Academy play an important role in facilitating authentic learning experiences through building an inclusive and collegial classroom culture featuring both high standards of learning and differentiated supports. Successful associate teachers can advance into a lead teacher role as they gain experience and demonstrate proficiency in their educational practice.
A full-time schedule includes supporting up to 28 of 30 teaching periods per week. All faculty members have a drive toward continuous improvement of their teaching practice through professional development and collaborative learning and maintain a "whole-child" perspective when teaching, advising, and supporting their students.

Supporting classes and teachers directly

Substitute teaching as required
Ascending into vacant Lead Teacher positions based on availability and need
Job Responsibilities
Directly supporting classroom management and behaviour management in conjunction with teaching team
Proactively and effectively leading small group lessons and communicating with teaching team on student progress
Effectively and consistently using the school's Learning Management System and Student Information System
Utilizing individualized strategies with students
Communicating openly, honestly, and transparently with students and teachers
Utilizing Individual Learning Plans to guide work
Teaching select classes when necessary

Qualifications & Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree required
OCT certification is preferred, but not required. Candidates with teaching qualifications from outside of Ontario will be considered.
Experience working with middle school students, either in a general classroom setting, one-on-one setting, or alternative program setting.
Experience with neurodiverse students with learning differences is a plus.
High level of comfort working in a growth-focused environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
High quality written and verbal communication skills
High level of comfort with digital resources such as Google Suite

The salary offer for candidates will be commensurate with experience and qualifications
($45000-$57000)
