We are currently seeking an Associate Software Engineer on an agile team within our Secure Web platform. You will provide development and maintenance efforts on a variety of web application initiatives. The successful candidate will bring their keen interest, enthusiasm, and experience to produce technical deliverables in a cost-effective and timely manner.

What will you do?

• Completes development tasks as part of the delivery team.
• May be asked to coordinate small to medium prototypes from ideation through planning, requirements, construction, and presentation.
• Develops an understanding of the business and technical needs of a project.
• Identifies gaps in their own knowledge and actively seeks out assistance from senior team members to effectively deliver high quality solutions and services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensures that solutions meet both business and technical requirements, including performance, maintainability, and stability.

What do you need to succeed:

• University degree in Computer Science or related field, or graduating soon.
• Front-end experience/knowledge with ReactJS, JavaScript/ES6,HTML5, JSP, and CSS
• Experience/knowledge with DevOps tools such as BitBucket, CDD, Jenkins, etc
• Good understanding of web-based applications and server technologies
• Experience with Kubernetes/Docker is an asset.
• Experience with Webpack, Bootstrap are assets
• Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum. Agile)
• Good analytical skills; able to assess alternatives, risks, and benefits; attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork skills \xe2\x80\x93 personable, respectful, and collaborative with others (technical and non-technical)
• Good communicator, self-motivated and service-oriented, a self-starter
• Good organizational and time management skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
