Your role
The Current Affairs Associate Producer keeps up to date with current events and news happening in Inuit Nunangat. You will be someone who is engaged by working on applied technical problems and editorial discussions when you encounter them.
You have an interest in storytelling and a knowledge of wanting to tell stories of Nunavummiut.
With coaching from our Producers, you will help get programming ready to air while keeping in touch with the team to provide support on stories and events around Nunavut.
As Associate Producer assigned to radio current affairs you will perform editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for all of our media platforms and especially for social media and radio programming.
You will participate in the production, direction and post-production of a program or program segment. You should be engaged with the demands of a deadline driven environment and proficient at managing multiple tasks during breaking news situations.
You should be interested in chasing and developing stories and original research. You should be able to generate story ideas independently.
There may be opportunities to coordinate the work of others and close cooperation with the station is essential.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following:Fluency in Inuktitut and English is required. Deep knowledge and connection to Inuit communities. Enthusiastic team player with great communication skills Facilitate communication with members of the audience Organize the participation of interviewees, contributors and other participants. Technical troubleshooting skills are an asset. Previous experience in broadcasting is an asset Able to work flexible hours, weekends and nights. A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.
