Your role
CBC P.E.I., Charlottetown (English Services) is looking for an energetic and forward thinking Associate Producer to take on a vital programming role.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Charlottetown, P.E.I., reporting to the senior producer of assignment. This shift is regularly scheduled in the evening.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
This position works closely with the assignment desk to make sure all of CBC's programs and platforms have what they need for a day. This includes pitching stories, conducting interviews, cutting and writing radio news clips, cutting and writing longer current affairs segments, writing digital articles and editing and publishing video.
We are looking for someone who has great story ideas and thinks creatively about how best to tell them. While guidance and direction are available, we are looking for someone who shows independent initiative and judgement.
This position works within tight deadlines in a busy daily news environment.
Qualifications
You are responsible for providing an updated resume and highlighting the qualifications and skills required for this position.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
University degree or equivalent. In the absence of a post secondary degree, applications will be assessed on applicable learning and work experience.
Minimum of two years relevant experience, ideally within a daily newsroom.
Experience in booking interview guests, developing lines of questioning, writing focused introductions and preparing and writing tape segments.
Capable of original and creative thought in the production of news for online, radio, and TV with demonstrated writing skills.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills: must be a team player.
Strong organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently.
Comfortable with the demands and needs of online, radio and television news production.
Must be able to solve problems independently and in-group discussions (openness to new ideas and approaches).
Experience with video, audio, online editing tools, Content Management Systems, and Social Media.
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, as required.
