In addition, allowances and provisions for employees working in isolated locations apply.The Associate Producer assigned to radio current affairs will primarily perform editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for all of our media platforms and especially for radio programming. You will participate in the production, direction and/or post-production of a program and/or program segment. You should be comfortable with the demands and needs of radio, video, on-line news and social media. Applicants need to be proficient at managing multiple assignments and covering breaking news situations. You should be comfortable chasing and developing enterprise journalism and original research. You should be able to generate story ideas independently. Guidance and direction are regularly available from one or more producers, but there is latitude for initiative and judgment. You work well in a team environment.In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. Youre innovative and will champion new story treatments. Youre not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.Local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You will understand the diverse and changing population across the Northwest Territories and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.You live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture. You have a solid understanding of the diverse culture of northern Canada.We are looking for a candidate with the following:

• Strong organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently and meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple story chases.
• Must be capable of producing creative and original content for radio shows.
• Experience in booking interview guests, developing lines of questioning, writing focused introductions and preparing and writing tape segments.
• Advanced audio gathering and mixing skills.
• Must have the ability to perform live and on-air.
• The ability and skills to gather video with a cell phone.
• Skills in writing for the web, creating social media content are an asset.
• Ability to interact with the public on the phone and in person.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills: must be a team player.
• A strong, demonstrated understanding of the Northwest Territories and pan-Northern political and cultural landscape.
• Must be able to solve problems independently and in-group discussions (openness to new ideas and approaches).
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, is required.
• University degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of two years\' relevant experience during which the candidate would gain exposure to journalism, computers, social media and the technology of radio or television broadcasting preferred.
