Opportunity
AIMCo's Real Estate portfolio provides exposure to domestic and international real estate through direct holdings diversified across property types and geography.
The Associate Principal or Principal, Real Estate, Portfolio Management (Europe) will contribute to the overall success of the Real Estate Portfolio at AIMCo, focusing on the European portfolio.
This senior position within the Portfolio Management Group offers a high level of accountability, autonomy, and decision-making ability, reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Global Portfolio Management, Real Estate.
Responsibilities Include:Oversee and manage a portfolio of diversified investments across regions and partners
Guide asset management initiatives including leasing, budgeting and capital expenditure and financing
Implement portfolio management strategies and policies to ensure consistency
Participate in setting and monitoring the annual investment strategy and plan
Leverage investment reports and platforms to monitor portfolio activity and performance and make recommendations to engage with team, managers, partners, and senior leadership team
Review and evaluate existing investment structures, and make recommendations as required
Monitor, measure, and report investment performance on both a quarterly and annual basis
Manage and enforce contractual rights and ensure they are effectively managed and protected
Evaluate financial and operational performance of operating partners for compliance with agreements and AIMCo policies
Development of asset-specific and portfolio strategic plans and review of buy/sell recommendations
Assist in the preparation of materials and presentations for the Senior Real Estate Team or Board meetings and other ad-hoc requests
Collaboratively share information pertaining to assets and portfolio with other team members, including analysts, associates, other portfolio managers, and the senior management team
Keep abreast of and share key updates on regional and global economic and financial market conditions which could impact our portfolio
Liaise with other groups within the Real Estate team and internally (Legal, Finance, Risk, Valuations) on matters related to financial accounting, valuations, reporting and real estate investment performance
Mentor junior staff to develop future leaders within the organization
Responsible for preparation of ad-hoc reports, analyses and presentations, while undertaking additional projects as required
Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:8-12+ years of relevant experience in Real Estate and Investment Management
Strong experience working closely with team members of various experience (analysts through senior leaders)
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or related fields, master's degree preferred
Advanced communication skills, with an ability to foster collaborative relationships amongst internal and external stakeholder groups
Excellent verbal and written communication, detail oriented, and well organized
Strong experience in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work independently, as well as in a group setting
Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration, and inspires the same in others
Second European language is an asset
