The successful candidate has significant experience in personal injury litigation (at least 1-3 years). They take initiative, are organized, hard-working, entrepreneurial minded and are encouraged and supported in building their own practice. The successful candidate will also receive a competitive compensation package including health benefits and growth opportunities. Pay is commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities and duties:
Oversees all aspects of tort/accident benefit and slip and fall claims
Handle files of varying complexities from intake to resolution
Work cooperatively within a team structure
Identify files ready for settlement and prepare for settlement conferences
Reviews, analyzes, and assesses all incoming medical and other productions/correspondence
Interviewing clients and witnesses
Effectively track limitation periods and deadlines
Communicating with team members and clients to ensure files are up to date
Responsible for ongoing review and management of files, assigning tasks, with assistance from paralegals and legal assistants
Preparing clients for and attending examinations for discovery, motions, mediation, pretrials, etc.
Drafting settlement proposals
Help TSF Law achieve strategic goals on behalf of our clients
Building and maintaining positive and professional working relationships with current and prospective clients
Adhere to all applicable regulations/requirements and timelines/deadlines as required by the Law Society of Ontario and our clients
Support and contribute to all TSF Law initiatives to create a positive work culture
Share knowledge, provide/receive on-going coaching and support to/from your colleagues and administrative team
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate has and can demonstrate the following experience, skills and characteristics:
A lawyer with 1-3 years practice within personal injury (preferably defence)
Confident and dependable, with strong initiative
Strong attention to detail
Ability to be a pragmatic problem solver
Exudes a positive attitude
Teachable and able to comply with all firm policies and procedures
An entrepreneurial spirit/mindset
Very strong knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedures
Experienced in handling files from beginning to end
Experience with resolving claims
Work with minimal instruction or supervision
Ability to work within tight timelines to meet deadlines, reassessing priorities as needed
Self-starter with excellent critical thinking skills
Proactive and takes initiative in anticipation of the next steps on a file
Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
Ability to work both independently and in a team
Willing to learn new material and technology
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
