If you're an Employment Lawyer who has dabbled with the idea of opening your own practice, but would like to mitigate risk: we may have found a loophole. A top-notch Labour & Employment Toronto-based firm, is looking for a self-starter to establish a BC branch, right here in Vancouver.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

A subject matter expert in all aspects of Labour and Employment law, this Toronto based law firm is expanding their practice to the west coast and with that has created a position for an ambitious lawyer interested in a role like no other. Headed up by a team of partners who are devoted social justice, this firm mainly represents cases brought forward by employees and also serves small and medium sized businesses. Working here will leave you no doubt that you are putting your qualifications and skill set to good and honest use.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The role is for you if you are have approximately 3-6 years experience, and an ability to run files independently. You will be provided with a steady flow of files for the foreseeable, so no need to worry about bringing business with you. You would be expected to "hit the ground running", so to speak and ideally, the bulk of your experience will be employee law. You will excel here if you're a hard worker that doesn't buy into the traditional, stuffy law environment and has a more open-minded approach to work

ABOUT THE POSITION

This role will be busy and bring plenty of opportunities for the individual who joins. Heading up the Vancouver operations will inevitably mean:

• Complete control over your book of business, day-to-day tasks, and running of BC operations.
• Remote mentorship by a leading Toronto Employment Lawyer (who is also admitted to the BC bar)
• Backing by an incredible, specialist firm with a great reputation.
• First dibs on all BC cases from advertising and/or word-of-mouth business (you'd be surprised how much Vancouver business this Toronto based firm gets right now, and that's before they make any attempt at business development west-side)
• You'll be the main decision-maker for office space, working hours, compensation, hiring, etc.

This will be a role that will undoubtedly present challenges like no other but will also bring rewards and work satisfaction that simply cannot be acquired in a run-of-the-mill Employment law job.

THE REQUIREMENTS

• Called to the BC Bar
• Minimum of 3 years L&E experience (litigation experience preferred)
• Live local to the Vancouver area
• Ability to run files independently and open to mentoring others
• Desire to grow your business, get involved in marketing and business development.
