Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented 1st Year - Associate Lawyer to join our Criminal Defence team. The ideal candidate will provide legal advice, draft and review legal documents, and represent clients effectively and with a high level of care and diligence. This role requires strong research, negotiation, and writing skills to ensure the best outcomes for our clients. The Lawyer will play a vital role in managing files and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis, CanLi, Westlaw to support case preparation and legal analysis. Draft, review, and revise legal documents, and correspondence with precision and clarity. Negotiate settlements, and other agreements on behalf of clients or the organization. Represent clients in negotiations, or court proceedings when necessary. Stay updated on current laws, regulations, and industry trends relevant to practice areas. Collaborate with other departments to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business strategies.

Experience

Experience as a practicing lawyer with a strong background in legal research, drafting, and negotiation. Proficiency with legal research tools such as LexisNexis is highly desirable. Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents. Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and manage complex cases or transactions. Strong analytical skills combined with excellent communication abilities to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
