We are small boutique law firm located in Beaumont, Alberta. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Lawyer to join our legal team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing comprehensive legal support across a diverse range of practice areas, including wills and estate planning, personal injury, corporate and real estate. Any experience in family law would be an asset but is not required.
We are looking for an interested candidate for future takeover of the firm as the senior lawyer moves into semi-retirement. This position offers an exciting opportunity for growth within a collaborative and forward-thinking legal environment.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough legal research utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case development and legal analysis.
Draft clear, precise legal documents including contracts, pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence tailored to client needs.
Assist in managing cases across various practice areas by organizing case files, tracking deadlines, and preparing for hearings or negotiations.
Support senior attorneys during negotiations by providing relevant legal insights and drafting negotiation documents.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions affecting estate planning, environmental law, immigration policies, and more.
Participate in client meetings to gather information, explain legal options, and foster strong professional relationships.
Maintain meticulous records of all legal research, correspondence, and case documentation within the law office management system.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active admission to the bar.
Proven experience or internship in multiple practice areas such as estate planning, real estate, family law, or corporate/commercial.
Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms.
Excellent writing skills demonstrated through effective legal drafting and documentation.
Familiarity with legal administrative processes including case management and filing procedures.
Ability to analyze complex legal issues critically and communicate findings clearly.
