We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Family Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a passion for providing exceptional legal services. As a Lawyer, you will be responsible for representing clients in various legal matters, conducting thorough research, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Your expertise in legal drafting and proficiency with tools such as Lexis-Nexis will be essential in delivering high-quality legal solutions.
This will be a commission-based position (not salary). The general structure of the commission base will be discussed during the interview process. There will be incentives provided at that time as well, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
Represent clients in court proceedings, negotiations, and other legal matters.
Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Provide sound legal advice to clients on various issues surround family law issues.
Maintain accurate records of case files and documentation.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop effective strategies for client representation.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact clients.
Qualifications
LL.B or Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience with a law firm in family law.
Strong writing skills with experience in legal drafting, sound judgment, a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
Ability to manage client expectations.
