The Investment Structure Management ("ISMaEUR) team is accountable for the operational deal structuring and end-to-end management of the investment life cycle. The team also manages the operating risks of CPP Investments' group entities working with other partners in Legal and Finance Analytics & Risk. It is a dynamic role that provides a great deal of insight and exposure to all aspects of our organization and comes with many project management responsibilities.

Reporting to Director, ISM, the person in this role will provide investment structuring support for onboarding, closing and post-close matters related to Credit Investments. This person will also assist with various projects/initiatives, and in setting up and managing CPP Investments group companies.

You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external advisors, and will play a key role in the following areas including, but not limited to:
  • Support the Director in the pre-close/structuring and ongoing maintenance of new investments, exits and restructurings, which includes:
  • Work with internal partners to identify and address structuring and operational complexities of CPP Investments legal entity structures
  • Coordinate the establishment of new legal entities and address legal and governance requirements in support of CPP Investments' structures in partnership with investment teams and Core Services teams
  • Provide support for structuring and transaction closing process for various investment products within Credit Investments (e.g., track deal timelines, develop a detailed plan including steps and timelines, maintain meeting minutes and project-manage completion of pre-close activities amongst internal partners)
  • Assist with the ongoing support to maintain and manage CPP Investments' structures post-closing, which includes:
  • Assist with the ongoing operational activities of wholly owned CPP Investment entities to ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with, and in some instances be accountable for ensuring external and internal compliance deliverables are completed timely
  • Assist with the quarterly reporting materials to provide visibility on operational and risk metrics
  • Assist with workstreams relating to CPP Investments' legal entity management system functionalities
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of department policies and procedures; identify potential gaps or risks in execution and propose effective solutions
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about problem solving, solutions oriented, and comfortable dealing with complex and fast-moving tasks with varying timelines. You must be a self-starter who works well under pressure. You must have strong interpersonal and business relationship skills and enjoy cross-functional collaboration with other internal teams and departments.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of related work experience (e.g. finance, consulting, private equity, accounting firm etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistently high levels of accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - ability to identify issues and determine course of action in situations with little or no precedent, analytical and holistic thinking is required
  • A continuous learning mindset with a desire to learn about CPP Investments business and recommend innovative solutions to business problems
  • Willingness to actively contribute to a positive, highly effective and collaborative team culture
  • A professional designation such as CFA, CA, CMA, CBV is considered an asset
  • M&A operational experience is an asset
  • Experience working with low code / no code workflow tools (e.g. Mendix), knowledge of programming languages such as Python and using tools like Tableau are an asset
  • A track record of academic achievement and professional advancement
