Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council's (SRC) Research and Technology - Technical Services Division has an opening for an Associate Engineer to support ore processing initiatives through sensor based sorting and dense media separation. This role will involve preparing proposals and reports, project coordination, collection and organization of data, conducting analysis and experimental procedures, and adherence to quality and safety procedures.
Accountabilities
Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), forms, and other quality documentation
Review client requirements and maintain communication with stakeholders to ensure the quality and timely delivery of client projects
Oversee compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and support updates to safety procedures and training
Participate in business development activities such as conferences, trade shows, and presentations
Research products and services to identify and recommend the most suitable option for business needs
Assist the Business Unit manager by making recommendations on the economic and financial implications of projects, proposals, and plans
Support daily financial activities, including budget preparation, expense tracking, and purchasing
Assist with the operations and maintenance of processing equipment, including scheduling contractors, and providing safety orientations
Manage scope, schedule, budget, safety, risk, and resources throughout projects to ensure successful execution of project requirements
Coordinate activities with cross-functional project teams and report on project milestones, challenges, and outcomes
Qualifications
Engineering degree with experience in mineral exploration, mineral processing, mining, or a related field
2-5 years of experience, with a focus on project management
Registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) is required
Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and internal teams
Flexible and adaptable; able to manage competing project priorities and deadlines while using sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation
Strong technical writing and data interpretation skills
Self-starter with effective organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and make recommendations related to improving efficiency and productivity
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
