About the Position: Wise Publishing is expanding, and we are looking for a meticulous and self-directed Associate Editor to join our Editorial team. If you are passionate about personal finance, have a keen eye for detail and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you. As an Associate Editor, you will ensure the quality and accuracy of content published on Moneywise.com for a U.S. audience and distributed to various syndication partners. Reporting to the Senior Editor of Moneywise.com, your role will involve editing and optimizing articles on various personal finance topics, ensuring adherence to editorial standards and managing the syndication process to maximize the reach and impact of our content.
Responsibilities (What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do):
Content Editing and Optimization:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Review news and feature articles for grammar, spelling, punctuation and style.
Fact-check and verify information for accuracy before publication.
Ensure articles are clear, concise and engaging.
Collaborate with writers to enhance content clarity and richness.
Optimize content for monetization through responsible affiliate marketing.
Adherence to Editorial Guidelines:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure all content complies with editorial guidelines and standards.
Maintain consistency in tone, voice and style across articles.
Stay updated with industry standards and best practices in journalism.
Syndication Coordination:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Syndicate content to external partners and platforms independently.
Stay updated on formatting requirements for various syndication partners.
Monitor the performance of syndicated articles and make necessary adjustments.
Collaboration:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Work with the editorial team, writers and freelancers to improve overall content quality.
Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to the pitch approval process.
Deadline Management:
\xe2\x80\xa2 Adhere to strict deadlines for timely content delivery.
\xe2\x80\xa2 Stay informed about U.S. current events and personal finance trends.
Suggest relevant content for syndication based on trends and audience interests.
Qualifications (Who You Are):
A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in journalism, English, communications or a related field (Journalism graduates preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in news editing, preferably in a digital newsroom.
Strong knowledge of AP and/or CP style.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge or experience in personal finance topics is preferred.
Proficiency in content management systems and syndication platforms.
Knowledge of SEO best practices in news content is a plus.
Proven writing and editing skills, with good instincts for flow and organization.
