Sr. Staff Writer

Toronto, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

About Wise Publishing:

Wise Publishing, Inc. is a digital publisher and technology company but we're much more than that; we're a group of talented, passionate people who believe that consumers deserve the best possible information to help them make smart choices and get ahead.

Our purpose is to empower everyone to live a richer life.

Our core products are our widely read, high-quality personal finance brands, Moneywise.com and Money.ca. These brands serve the U.S. and Canada, respectively, and reach tens of millions of people each month.

About The Position:

Wise Publishing is looking for a Sr. Staff Writer who's equal parts reporter and marketer, someone who knows how to turn timely financial topics into content that engages and converts. This role focuses on creating hybrid content: blending the informative, journalistic tone our readers trust with affiliate partner offers that help them make smarter financial choices.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer with a sharp eye for detail, a curiosity about personal finance trends, and a deep respect for the reader. You know how to make a piece of content sing (and sell) without losing its credibility or value.

This is a great opportunity for a content writer or journalist looking to deepen their skills in content monetization while staying true to editorial quality and integrity.

Responsibilities (What you'll do):

Write and edit daily hybrid articles that blend affiliate marketing content with syndicated news, ensuring a natural and engaging flow. Research and integrate commercial copy from affiliate partners into news stories, maintaining a balance between promotional and informational content.Pitch original story ideas based on current financial news and consumer trends. Stay up-to-date on affiliate offers, ensuring articles reflect the most current information (sign-up bonuses, referral links, etc.). Collaborate with editors to finalize and prepare articles for publication. Replace expired offers or update affiliate mentions based on shifting budgets or priorities. Ensure each article includes a timely "why now" angle and updated contextual framing. Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to broader content strategies.

Qualifications (Who you are):

A diploma or degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in digital content writing or journalism. Affiliate marketing experience is a plus. Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and tone. Comfortable using a content management system (CMS); experience with Google Workspace and Mac OS is an asset. Strong knowledge of personal finance and business news -- or a passion to learn quickly. Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and digital performance metrics. Able to juggle multiple assignments, respond to editorial feedback, and meet deadlines.

More Perks and Reasons to Join:

We're proud to be recognized as a Great Place to Work for the third year in a row. A hybrid work environment and a beautiful midtown Toronto office for when you want to collaborate in person. A flexible hybrid work environment; most of our team works 1-2 days a week in the office. Top-tier benefits include comprehensive dental/medical/vision as well as Health Spending Account (HSA), telemedical, and wellness program. Quarterly company-wide team outings and events. Free in-office snacks, espresso, and an outdoor patio. A supportive learning environment.

Please submit your resume and 3-4 writing samples ( preference for stories in the personal finance space) for consideration in PDF format. We look forward to hearing from you, however, due to the volume of applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
