Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops long-term sourcing strategy for a region or the entire function, and oversees its implementation to ensure the company\'s sourcing needs are met in the most cost-effective manner. Ensures that sourcing and procurement strategies are aligned to corporate strategy and feasible with existing supplier base. Alternatively may oversees the implementation of complex, strategic regional or global sourcing solutions in specific area of expertise. Line manages a sourcing and procurement team.

Typical Accountabilities

Plans and reviews the performance of Procurement and other function teams within area of responsibility

Plans, manages and controls overall allocation of resources

Ensures appropriate supplier management methods are applied

Directs new initiatives and improvement programmes aimed at ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, technical excellence and improving cost-effectiveness

Recruits, defines goals, sets and manages performance standards for a multi-functional team able to deliver procurement projects to time, cost and quality standards

Advises on and drives procurement strategy ensuring procurement processes are in line with organisational objectives

Leads a multi-disciplinary team defining and achieving Procurement efficiency and work standards and associated procedures, to ensure the assets meet business needs and satisfy external regulators

Leads, defines and gains approval of business needs and the translation of these needs into specific resource requirements

Coaches and develops professional aspects of Procurement team members

Develops senior level contacts in order to resolve issues, optimise business performance and develop future improvement opportunities

Essentials:

Degree level qualification

Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical industry

Expertise in at least one area of Procurement and knowledge of several others

Proven leadership experience

Communication skills and ability to influence others

Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
